Dictator Museveni’s security forces, the Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) have a deep-seated conviction that they can commit any crime against Ugandans. Even in these tough times where every Ugandan is strictly confined in their home to observe the standard operating procedures (SOPs) to curb the surge in covid cases. They feel they can shoot people as they please, because they have a right to “self-defense”.
While addressing the media, the UPDF Spokesperson Brig. Flavia Byekwaso warned that while enforcing covid SOPs that “where soldiers are conducting their patrols and doing their work, there are guidelines to be followed but some things go out of their way, and out of anger they will shoot!”
Imagine this level of arrogance and impunity!
The fact that the UPDF stand up to publicly threaten Ugandans puts a stamp on their narrative that “they shoot people for their own good”, and at the same time get away with it. This kind of impunity and entitlement is endorsed by Museveni who uses and lives by the gun as the only solution to every vice.
