While hunger squeezes Ugandans into coma, ghost neighbors and ghost relatives who died yesteryear are on government waiting lists yet to receive Nabanjja’s covid relief cash. Dictator Museveni and his government could not wait to rain on our parade even at this hour of great need.
Many are dropping dead due to hunger since Museveni imposing the 42-day lockdown in June. Justus Ssempa, a single father of two was found dead in his rented room in Kawafu cell, and authorities confirmed his cause of death as severe hunger because he had no food as he was not working since announcing lockdown. Ssempa was a shoe cobbler who moved from house to house for his work. But he could not get food or the money to fend for himself and his two boys.
Another man in despair from Kitende, Wakiso district set himself ablaze and died because he had lost hope on hearing what the government lists looked like. He knew the situation is kind of similar to last year’s when the government promised people food, but the few who received it only got rotten posho and weevil-infested beans which did not help a single soul.
Suicide cases are on the rise across the country as Ugandans are in despair for relief since the office of the prime minister has chosen to play games, while they take their sweet time leaving many to die of hunger and others to give up on life.
Museveni is yet again revealing his duplicity, self-centeredness, and corruption, proof that he should not be Uganda’s president.
